Fastroi is Joensuu’s Entrepreneur of the Year 2019

“Fastroi’s operations have been stable and profitable for several years. Acquisitions have also resulted in growth. In addition, Fastroi has created another profitable business, ”says Joona Kotilainen, President of Joensuu Entrepreneurs.

In 2015, Fastroi acquired Necora Systems Oy and split into two companies. The infrastructure and property construction and maintenance business was then transferred to the current Fluent Progress.

In the selection criteria for entrepreneurs, Fastroi is mentioned as a Joensuu-based company that has consistently developed and grown its own products.

“In recent years, Fastroi has also sought international sales and has been able to expand into the UK,” says Joona Kotilainen. The UK arm of the company has already won its first agreements and will provide the City of Leeds with a mobile work planning and tracking solution for use in their social care sector.

Risto Jalovaara, CEO of Fastroi, thanks Joensuu’s Entrepreneurs for their recognition. He emphasizes that success is due to the hard work of many different parties.

“I would like to thank our company staff, The Finnish Care Companies who support us and other sector organisations for their wonderful cooperation,” Jalovaara says. “Success requires seamless collaboration between all parties.”

The Entrepreneur of the Year Award is presented annually to the company that has demonstrated continuity in its operations and builds its operations on a solid foundation. The award criteria for entrepreneurs include, among other things, that the recipient of the award must actively develop their activities, be a significant employer and be known as a good employer.

Fastroi have been ISO 27001 certified

The certification means that Fastroi’s security management system satisfies all the requirements of ISO 27001. The certificate is also necessary in preparation for an international market that demands high levels of security.

Joensuu, Finland, December 3, 2019. Fastroi were audited by DNV GL and have now been ISO 27001 certified. The certificate proves that Fastroi’s security management system is certified in accordance with best practices and meets all the requirements of the standard.

ISO 27001 is an important international standard for information security. It defines the main security processes, management and approaches that the company must adhere to. The company needs to consider and manage these in order to handle and manage security risks in a meaningful and appropriate manner.

“A security certificate is definitely not something to be framed, placed on the office wall and forgotten. It proves that all of our staff have taken part in security discussions and training. Understanding the security issues within our company is becoming more and more important. At the same time, the security of our products and services has risen to an even higher level, ”says Risto Jalovaara, CEO of Fastroi.

The certificate is of particular benefit to Fastroi’s internationalisation plans. The company expanded to the UK in 2018 and have already entered into its first agreements there.  The first being a multi year contract with Leeds City Council to provide Real-Time Care™ into several units within their service. Having this new certification provides our customers, both old and new, with an extra level of confidence in our products and services.

“The security work we do in connection with the project is also about preparing for the international market. The level of requirements there is even higher than in the domestic market, including in terms of data security, ”Jalovaara says.

Fastroi already have ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems in place. They demonstrate the company’s cost-effectiveness, good risk management and environmentally sound operations. The newly earned ISO 27001 certification has been harmonized with these management system standards.

Successful Digital Transformation Must Take the Complex and Make it Simple

In order for the benefits of digital transformation to be realised, there is a simple point that needs to be remembered. Technology is just another tool that helps people to do their job. If we over complicate the tools we give people, then the resistance to their introduction will be high. If the tools are simple, intuitive and clearly useful, then the resistance to them will be much lower.

At Fastroi, we remember that technology is just an enabler to doing a better job. Real-Time Care (RTC) is a comprehensive Care Management System that allows service providers to simplify the care process and promote genuine encounters between people in various care work environments. This promotes truly integrated care from care providers. RTC helps to solve many of the problems that cause care service providers to perform badly during inspections. This has been recognised in research carried out in Finland where RTC was voted the most user friendly software in social welfare services. The idea is simple. Automate and simplify the processes and then record everything. More information on the research can be found in our blog. To learn more about RTC, download the latest White Papers.

Fastroi will be attending the Health+Care event in London on 27-28th June. You can find us at stand D30 where we will be demonstrating Real-Time Care and showing how digital transformation should making your life easy.

We need to start looking to countries like Finland for guidance about digital transformation in Health & Social Care

When we speak about digital transformation in health and social care services in Finland, it is done with the knowledge that the process has been ongoing for many years. The reality for people living in Finland is that their healthcare sector is fully connected from patient data repositories (1.2 billion documents currently stored)  to electronic prescriptions (6 million medicines dispensed every month) and pharmaceutical databases that includes useful consumer information to help them make informed choices.

The Care sectors are no exception and one of the leading companies responsible for the digital transformation in residential and domiciliary care is Fastroi.

Their Real-Time Care™ (RTC) is a comprehensive Care Management System that allows service providers to simplify the care process and promote genuine encounters between people in various care work environments. This promotes truly integrated care from care service providers. RTC helps to solve many of the problems that cause providers to receive low CQC ratings. Research has shown that RTC is also the most user friendly tool. More information can be found by downloading our latest White Paper.

Fastroi to exhibit at the upcoming Dementia Care and Nursing Home event in Birmingham

The exhibition will see the launch of their new product ‘Real Time Care™’ (RTC) onto the UK market. RTC™ is a comprehensive digital system for managing residential care services that takes the pressure off of service managers by giving them the tools to automate the process of care. Reporting is made easier, management becomes smoother and care plans more connected. The tools allow staff to focus more on caring for customers and less on ancillary tasks like writing reports or manually planning shifts. Through adoption of digital systems such as RTC™, companies can improve regulatory compliance in areas such as GDPR or Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspections.

CEO Risto Jalovaara and UK representative, Jim Ward will be delivering a presentation to the exhibition entitled ‘The digital transformation of the domiciliary care industry, looking in particular at the lessons learnt from Finland and the UK. ‘

The presentation will take place at 13:15 on Wednesday 25th April in Theatre 11.

Founded in Finland in 2003 and having achieved market leader status at home,  Fastroi have taken the decision to enter the UK market. As part of their preparation, they conducted some research based on the results of the CQC) inspection reports. A brief outline of the findings can be found in the latest blog post  or in more detail in our White Paper. The research found that most care homes could quickly improve their CQC ratings and reduce their costs simply by implementing a digital solution to their care service.

fusion fastroi and necora

Fastroi and Necora to merge

Effective 29 December 2017, the Finnish information system provider Fastroi Ltd and its subsidiary Necora will merge into a single company. The operations of the two companies will continue under the name Fastroi Ltd, while Necora Systems Ltd will cease operations as a business entity. “This merger is a natural continuation of our 2015 acquisition of Necora’s entire capital stock,” says Risto Jalovaara, chief executive officer of the Joensuu-based company.

As a result of the merger, Necora’s primary product, the Nappula customer relationship management system, will become part of the Fastroi’s product family. “We will continue to actively develop both the Nappula and the Fastroi Real-Time Care™ system.” According to Jalovaara, the most significant change is that the company’s teams will work in closer cooperation than before, allowing the company to improve the services it provides to customers even further. Fastroi is the leading information system provider in the Finnish social welfare sector.

Combining the financial, HR and marketing processes of the two companies will provide new efficiencies for Fastroi. “The synergy and efficiency benefits resulting from this merger will support Fastroi’s operations in the Finnish market and create new opportunities for international expansion,” Jalovaara says.

There will be no personnel changes resulting from the merger. The current employment contracts of Necora employees will be transferred to Fastroi. Furthermore, the merger will have no effect on Necora’s other contracts or agreements, as they will also be transferred to Fastroi Ltd without any changes to their terms. Currently, the company has more than 50 software professionals in its employment. Effective from the merger date, Jussi Ahtiainen has been appointed as the company’s chief financial officer. In addition to his other duties, Ahtiainen will be responsible for the company’s Nappula business. Fastroi’s turnover forecast for the year 2017 is more than four million euros after the merger.

Nappula is a versatile customer relationship management system widely used by child protection professionals and social welfare service providers in Finland. Fastroi Real-Time Care™ is the market leader of enterprise resource planning systems used in the Finnish nursing and care sector.
